About Plastic Refractory

Plastic mass is a high-performance, ready-to-use refractory material widely used in induction furnaces for spout making and patching of furnace linings. It is typically alumina-based, sometimes enriched with chrome or other additives, to provide excellent resistance against thermal shock, slag attack, and metal erosion. Supplied in a moist, pliable form, plastic mass can be easily applied by hand ramming without the need for additional water, ensuring consistent workability and strong adhesion to existing linings. Its dense structure and low porosity contribute to superior durability and extended service life under high-temperature conditions. For spout construction, it offers good shape retention and resistance to metal flow erosion, while for patching, it ensures quick repair and minimal downtime. With high refractoriness and reliable performance, plastic mass is an essential maintenance and construction material in modern induction furnace operations.
